Meribel offers much more than access to some of the best cycling and mountain biking in the world.
So, if you’re looking for something to do on a day off from the bike or simply a relaxing holiday in the fresh alpine air there are a variety of activities on offer.
We have set out some of our favourites below there are however, numerous others also on offer in Meribel and the surrounding area.
Mountain BikingMeribel is rapidly becoming a mecca for mountain biking, having hosted the final round of the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. The valley itself has 14 downhill tracks, over 100 kilometres of enduro trails and 3 dedicated cross country loops, if you add in the accessible neighbouring Courchevel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens you have in the region of 200 kilometres ... Hiking & WalkingThere are gentle walking routes for those who like an easy stroll and routes suitable for those with children or, there are more strenuous hiking routes for the seasoned walker in the Vanoise National Park. We are happy to give you more advice and can recommend local mountain guides who can take you on a trail. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous we can arrange accommodation in a mountain refuge to extend your day into an overnight trip.

GolfIf you’ve skied Meribel in the winter, playing a round of golf on the Meribel course offers a chance to see the mountain in a different light. You won’t believe such a high-quality course can be hidden away underneath the piste.
A little further afield is the 18-hole course at Giez which is also highly recommended, located at the southern extreme of Lake Annecy the course offers a picturesque panorama of the lake and Mont Blanc.
SwimmingThere is a great swimming pool in Meribel at the Olympic Centre, complete with slides for the kids (and bigger kids amongst us). On sunny days the pool is accessible from the sunbathing area at La Chaudanne.
Courchevel also boasts the newly opened AquaMotion a huge swimming & wellness centre complete with slides, surf machine, indoor & outdoor swimming.
Lake Swimming (Annecy & Bozel)For those of a multi discipline backgrounds that can’t get through a week without getting wet there are open water options in the lake at Bozel, only 20 minutes away from the chalet, or why not spend a day at the lake in Annecy. If you’re really serious we can video your stroke and offer a review session on the big screen at the chalet in the evening.
Wake Boarding, Paddle BoardingFor those seeking a water based adrenalin rush, you can’t get much better than Lake Annecy or Lake Aix-Les-Bains. Both lakes offer wake-boarding from the speedboat. Or perhaps something a little more relaxing, try SUP (Stand-up-paddle boarding) on the beautiful lake Annecy. The lakes also have beach areas for relaxation in the sunshine.
ParapenteFor a true feeling of getting away from it all a tandem paragliding flight, or parapente as it’s known in France, will give you spectacular views over Mont Blanc and the whole Meribel valley.
PaintballPaintball is available throughout the summer and at weekends from early September, ideal entertainment for families or groups, minimum group size of 4 required
RaftingAvailable from May to October on the Bozel Doron and Haute Isère rivers, both renowned white-water areas in Europe and both within a 30-minute drive of Chalet Everest.
Via FerrataIf you like the idea of climbing up sheer rock on the end of a piece of rope but it’s just a little too scary then Via Ferrata climbing offers an element of security while allowing beginners to experience the thrill of having scaled a mountain. Using a marked route through the mountains you are helped by steps, bridges and ladders whilst being roped up for extra safety.
Rock ClimbingThe local area features many great climbs for both beginners and more experienced climbers. There are guides and instructors available throughout the summer for those seeking high adrenalin, rocky thrills
CanyoningCanyoning is an extremely refreshing summer activity, on offer in 3 locations close to Meribel. Abseil mountain waterfalls, slide down streams and plunge into mountain pools, making your way down the river rapids to the finish.
Climbing WallsThere are a selection of climbing walls both indoor and outdoor around Meribel, with tuition available at The Olympic Centre for those wanting to learn on the indoor walls
TennisThere are numerous tennis courts available around Meribel. Whether you want a friendly game with friends or to take a lesson and hone your skills. Tennis courts are open daylight hours throughout the summer season
FishingRelax in the fresh alpine air and enjoy the fantastic views that surround Lac Tueda, You can fly-fish here with a permit, the lake is home mainly to rainbow trout
Horse RidingMeribel & The Three Valleys offer a variety of terrain, whether it’s a leisurely hack around the lake or a more strenuous ride into the mountains. So, saddle up and get out for a fantastic day in the saddle soaking up the fabulous mountain scenery. There are also pony rides available for younger children. The riding school is located walking distance from Meribel La Chaudanne.
Skiing - TignesIf you fancy something a little different on your summer holiday how about a morning of skiing/snowboarding on the Glacier (only for early risers!)? Transfer time to Tignes is approx. 1h15m, Transport can be provided at extra cost
“Go Ape” style, Forest adventureMeribel’s treetop Adventure park is designed for children and adults to play, explore, exercise and have fun in the natural mountain surroundings. Enjoy the thrills of adventure courses created in the forest. The ropes, swings, bridges and activities will be a great day for both children and adults. Protective gear is provided and safety information given you can head out and enjoy the trees and wilderness. Qualified guides will be around the course throughout to make sure you are safe and having as much fun as possible. There are several different tracks and routes with varying levels of difficulty.
Olympic Centre, MeribelThe fantastic Olympic Centre in Meribel boasts a whole host of activities for the whole family, in addition to the swimming pool and climbing walls mentioned above, there is also a 6-lane 10-pin bowling venue with bar & pool tables There is also the Ice Skating rink here, Gym and a full wellness centre with all the usual treatments available throughout the summer.
Relaxation, Spa & WellnessFor those looking to take things a little easier, there is a fabulous wellness centre located in the Olympic Centre, relax in the spa or pamper yourself with a range of treatments available. We also work closely with several fully qualified masseuses, who can visit you in the chalet.
